Possibly the first brand new printer I have bought for myself and very glad to have done so, having suffered for many years trying to keep an extremely problematic old printer working long after it should have been binned, then trying to repair a slightly older Canon printer with serious print head and ink carriage issues. So far the Canon PIXMA TS7450i has been excellent for my needs which have been mostly printing greyscale documents and scanning old bank statements and magazine articles. Requires some trial and error testing to get the best quality scans of colour-magazine pages with Canon's scanning software. Printer has been easy to use and ink costs should be reasonable judging by the checks I made before buying. Some tips on scanning: - Use the Photos option and save to PNG/JPG format if you want the best quality images. - I found the Magazines scanning setting worked best with the following options most of the time: > Sharpen Outline, Reduce show-through (turn off), Reduce Moire, Correct Slanted Text Originals, Detect orientation of text original and rotate image. - Lastly, the scanner is not very good at copying bright colours, especially neons/fluorescents (in truth, most CIS scanners under £500 are no good at this, as you really need an expensive CCD scanner for that). Hopefully I will get many years of mostly trouble-free performance out of this, although you never know when it comes to printers...
