The Brother DCP-357C uses Brother LC1000BK ink cartridges. Brother LC1000BK ink comes in black; the black cartridge prints 500 pages.
This colour inkjet printer is a speedy machine for a small office that requires low volume printing. Integrated with the 4-ink cartridge system, the Brother DCP-357C promises long-term savings and increased productivity, but still needs improvement in terms of photo print and paper feed quality.
This feature-packed multifunction printer is integrated with a colour inkjet print engine and a CIS flatbed scanner. The colour printer can print vivid graphics and crisp text in 1200x6000 dpi, while the colour copier can produce up to 99 copies from the original. Brother integrated the Photo Capture Center feature into the DCP-357C, making its direct-printing capabilities superior. There are built-in memory card slots for a variety of media cards, including memory stick and xD-Picture Card.
With print speeds at up to 30 ppm in monochrome and 25 ppm in colour, the Brother DCP-357C is a speedy device for printing documents with colour graphics. It scrimps on ink, using 1.5 picoliters as the minimum ink droplet size. Users can easily review pictures with the 2-inch colour LCD screen before directly printing them from a memory card. They can also print directly from a digital camera via PictBridge or load their files into the Brother DCP-357C printer from a USB flash drive.
Like its predecessors and similar printers from the DCP series, the Brother DCP-357C is prone to paper jams especially when printing using photo paper. Brother needs to improve the flimsy and badly-designed paper feeder. The Brother DCP-357C is quite heavy at 7.3 kg and is not Energy Star-qualified, making its overall energy efficiency questionable.
