The Brother MFC-685CW uses Brother LC1000BK ink cartridges. Brother LC1000BK ink comes in black; the black cartridge prints 500 pages.
The Brother MFC-685CW is an excellent choice for those who need a four-in-one printing solution that doesn’t let you down. With plenty of external connectivity, a speedy fax function and the integrated Photo Capture Centre representing just some of the benefits, it packs a lot of punch. However, the LCD screen is small, which could pose problems.
The Brother MFC-685CW comes with several built-in functions, including fax, print, copy and scan. Overall, it measures 398 x 370 x 180 mm and has 32MB of RAM. It also has an LCD screen designed to make control easy. The fax function has a memory that holds up to 480 pages and a transmission speed of around 6 seconds per page.
The Photo Capture Centre that comes with this device has a particularly wide selection of potential external media items that you can use with full, seamless compatibility. From SD and xD picture cards to memory sticks and USB flash memory drives, printing images is easy to do. It is also possible to add enhancements to images directly from the Photo Capture Centre, including red-eye removal. When you consider the other benefits, such as an extra-fast monochrome printing speed of up to 30 pages per minute, this printer is clearly a great choice.
That said, there are one or two potential disadvantages that could be relevant depending on your proposed use for the device. The LCD screen that comes with the device is useful, but at 3.3 inches, it’s not the largest available on the market, so it may not be useful for users with impaired vision.
