The Canon HD40 was considered one of the most advanced products in the early 90's. This fax machine and copier comes with a built-in 10" greyscale touchscreen display and a handset. It can be connected with a keyboard and a mouse. The Canon HD40 has two CPU's and also has a 1.44 MB floppy drive. This all-in-one system is very rare and it may be hard to find parts and consumables.
This unit comes in black and looks like a desktop computer. It has a large display and a handset; the numeric keypad is on the handle of the handset. Below the screen is the floppy disk and indicator light. There is a foldable rear output tray for the fax machine. Parallel ports and sockets for the mouse and keyboard plus power supply are on the back.
The Canon HD40 was way advanced for its time. It comes with a touchscreen fax dialler, a modern answering machine, and a fax viewer. Using bundled software, it is also capable of working with paint and other programs plus is able to print; it can even run games. The Canon HD40 can also send and receive fax. It delivers good quality output, images and texts are crisp and solid.
This unit is no longer available in the local market meaning it can be difficult to find replacement Canon HD40 ink cartridges, although cheap compatible inks are available for the Canon HD40 from some online outlets. The Canon HD40 inkjet fax is now outdated and has been surpassed by newer multifunction printer and fax models.
