The Canon ImagePrograf LP17 is a printer that can handle larger printing, with up to A2 capacity and a resolution of 2400 x 1200 dpi. This is a good choice for a business in need of a large format printer. This colour inkjet printer can deal with a number of media types including photo printing. The printer can also handle borderless printing, perfect for producing signage, and ideal for businesses that do not want to outsource large-scale printing.
Design
The dimensions of the Canon ImagePROGRAF LP17 are 81.9 x 73.3 x 31.7cm with a weight of 39kg. The unit has a two-line LCD screen and features both USB and network connectivity. It can be combined with a compatible multi-functional device to enable scan to large print features and includes a roll-feed unit. The unit has a five-ink system to create the vivid colours needed for good quality prints.
Advantages
Users can print on plain paper, both matte and glossy photo paper, and on transparencies. The network interface is 10/100 Base-T Network and is easy to setup. The printer is equipped with 192MB of memory that should be sufficient for most applications. The speed for a single A2 colour print is around 20 seconds, and a draft print option is available that allows low-cost drafts to save on ink costs.
Disadvantages
Canon has chosen to discontinue production on this model, replacing it with more feature-rich models so advice should be sought before purchase. The large size of the printer means it would not be a practical choice for home printing in the average household. The printer has a noise level of 52 dB so would not be suitable for quieter environments.
