The choice of professionals, the Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF6300 adopts Canon's brand new LUCIA EX12 colour pigment ink system, delivering superior accuracy and rich colours that many photographers and artists require. It has a 24" print production capacity, which makes it quit popular with large format market players and start-up printing companies.
Resembling the older 6100 model that came right before it, the Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF6300 has more to offer. The large, easy-to-read LCD panel makes operation easy. In addition to new inks, new print heads were also added to the x300 line, preventing clogging and other quality glitches. Although the iPF6300's control panel is not as intuitive as other competing brands, it is easy to learn even for first time users.
Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF6300's best selling point is the new LUCIA EX system which uses a 12 colour pigment ink set with smaller pigment particles. Expect better polymer encapsulation, which translates to increased saturation and better ink adhesion, and therefore less tendency to bleed (especially when using fine art papers). Scratch resistance has been improved – a general problem with inkjet versions. This Canon has a 348MB RAM and high speed USB and Ethernet interfaces. Set up is quick, and the colour management system works with a wide range of third party RIP vendors that support proofing, production, and photography applications. It also supports diverse media types and has a built in cost management software that makes cost tracking easier.
Replacement heads for the CannonIMAGEPROGRAF iPF6300 model can cost up to $450 each (and there are two). The interface can be intimidating, but it really is just simple to learn and operate. The iPF6300 is quite a large printer (39.1x46.4x34.3") so space can be an issue.
