The Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF-6400 is aimed at creative users who want consistent colour output and high productivity for their business. It is a 12-colour, large format printer that uses water-based pigmented inks for the best fine art, design, photo, proofing, and advertising printouts, but it can be quite expensive to run despite this type of ink cartridge set-up.
Design
This 12-colour 24-inch printer is integrated with Canon's inkjet on demand print technology running on 384MB of standard memory. It weighs 70Kg without the consumables, and is about a metre tall with the printer stand. The Canon ImagePROGRAF's minimalist operation panel is on the top right-hand side.
Advantages
This model can print on 24-inch wide sheets using the LUCIA EX 12-colour pigmented ink system, which delivers long-lasting and highly vibrant results. It uses built-in colour sensors for accurate and consistent colour reproduction. Users can save time using the Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF 6400 with the Photoshop plug-in. It can be connected to a network and users can find the Canon iPF6400 easy to operate because of the large and bright display screen.
Disadvantages
The Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF6400 may not be the cheapest printer to run because of the 4-picoliter ink droplet size that it uses. It only supports graphics arts language with raster operations (GARO), and doesn't offer upgradeable RAM, nor the option to integrate a hard disk drive. The Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF-6400's paper handling capacity is limited.
