Expert review of the Canon Pixma G1500 printer
The Canon G1500 is a relatively compact tabletop design printer with both monochrome and colour capabilities – perfect for use in lower-output environments where office space is at a premium. Capable of achieving decent resolutions, this printer can be used for both text and images and is also able to be used for self-printing of photos.
Design
The Canon Pixma G1500 features curved lines in classic black, which blend perfectly into the office or home office environment. The printer unit measures 445 millimetres wide by 330 millimetres deep by 135 millimetres high, making it compact enough for use in areas where space is at a premium. There is a front-and-centre paper tray and a pull-out output shelf to allow the footprint of the printer to be reduced when not in use.
Advantages
A Canon Pixma G1500 can create output with a print resolution of up to 4,800dpi x 1,200dpi, and it has the capacity to create both monochrome (black and white) and colour prints. In monochrome, the printer can achieve speeds of around 8.8 impressions per minute, while the colour output is around five impressions per minute. The Canon Pixma G1500 also has the capacity to print photos with borderless images in a ten-centimetre by 15-centimetre size, taking around 60 seconds to print from start to finish. The printer can handle a range of output media, including plain and high-resolution paper and photo paper in glossy and matte styles. It uses ink cartridges that offer impressive yields of 6,000 plain pages in mono and 7,000 pages in colour.
Disadvantages
The absence of additional integrated functions may be an issue for some, as the lack of a scanner and copier function means that other machines may be necessary to fill these roles. The wired nature of the Canon G1500’s connection can limit print flexibility within a workspace.
