The Canon Pixma MG8150 uses Canon 4529B006AA ink cartridges. Canon 4529B006AA ink comes in black; the black cartridge prints 341 pages x 2.
The Canon Pixma MG8150 still sits on the top tier of Canon's MG series (even after Canon released its MG8170 and MG8220 models). It adds a couple more extras to the already popular MG6150 model, allowing negative and transparency scanning and boasting a much larger LCD display, accompanied by a smart touch panel. Designed for excellent photo printing, the Canon Pixma MG8150 boasts up to 9600 dpi resolution and a 6-ink system which adds grey to the usual 5-ink CMYK version. It is a lot more expensive than the MG6150, which has all the same functions except negative scanning.
The Canon Pixma MG8150 is an all-black box with a domed lid where the 88mm flip-up screen sits, in addition to the touch control panel. It still features multiple media trays including a specialized pull-out for blank CDs. The flatbed scanner does not feature an automatic document feeder, although it is capable of scanning transparencies and negatives and has twice the resolution of the Pixma MG6150. It has Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet support, and slots for several memory cards.
The Canon Pixma MG8150 gets ahead the competition with its more intuitive touch controls and ability to turn old-school negative strips into quality soft and hard copies. Print quality is far superior to similar printers in the market. Duplex printing also comes standard in the Canon Pixma MG8150, and print speeds are at 12.5 ppm and 9.3 ppm in black and white and colour, respectively.
There is not much to criticise about the Canon Pixma MG8150, except maybe the much higher price tag compared to the lower version MG8150. It can also be on the slow side when compared to the MG8150.
