The Canon Pixma MP980 is a good choice if you want a multifunction device with an integrated scanner, copier, and printer for small to medium-sized jobs. It is user-friendly and has wireless connectivity features, but the print quality and Wi-Fi performance of the Pixma MP980 are sub-par, and running costs can get expensive.

Design

This multifunction printer is an improved version of a predecessor because of wireless printing capabilities such as PictBridge, optional Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, which lets you print without having to physically connect the printer to a computer or mobile device. It runs on Inkjet technology using 6 ink cartridges, has a flatbed scanner with a 4800 ppi resolution, and a copier that can make quick copies of documents or images in full colour. The screen is a little bigger at 3.5 inches, so viewing the printer's status and navigating through files is easier. The Canon Pixma MP980 is a little taller at 7.9 inches and a little bulkier at 15.2 inches wide and 18.5 inches in diameter.

Advantages

With maximum printing speeds of up to 26 ppm in monochrome and 21 ppm in colour, the Canon Pixma MP980 is one of the fastest around. An auto-duplexer is included to help you save resources, while the dual paper feeds allow you to load both photo paper and regular paper to save time. The LCD menu is interactive and user-friendly, and the control panel is easy to understand.

Disadvantages

The printer is aimed at photographers, but the print quality is not the most outstanding. At 23.6 lbs., this printer is one of the heaviest multifunctions from Canon. The Canon Pixma MP980 is on the expensive side, and running costs are quite high. Users report that the wireless connectivity of this printer is unreliable and unstable. The Canon Pixma MP980 could have been more efficient if it had a fax machine, too.
