The Canon Pixma iP3600 uses Canon 2932B001AA ink cartridges. Canon 2932B001AA ink comes in black; the black cartridge prints 350 pages.
Affordable, functional and reliable, the Canon Pixma iP3600 is a great choice for a home that needs a single-function, quality printer. It may lack the extra functions of an all-in-one, but is perfectly adequate for those who already have a fax or a copier, and those who don't do as much scanning. It boasts decent print speeds of up to 26ppm in black and 17ppm in colour (draft mode). The Canon Pixma iP3600 produces crisp text and detailed colour graphics and photos, though the machine can be a little sluggish when starting up. It is also noisy.
The Canon Pixma iP3600 takes up a larger footprint than an iP2702, especially with the front output tray attached. It features the same mechanical design, with a flip-up paper feed on top. The high-gloss black finish with a silver strip right across the front is stylish, and the control buttons on the right front side (still set with indicator LEDs) makes it ergonomic. The top button is for power, and the one below it is for feeding paper or cancelling prints. The USB socket along with the power port is at the rear for concealed connection.
Hardware installation for the Canon Pixma iP3600 is pretty simple, and it has the economical advantage of 5 separate ink cartridges, bringing down running costs bit lower than its competitors. The software bundle includes a driver for the latest Windows and Mac operating systems. The Canon Pixma iP3600 also comes with Easy-PhotoPrint EX, an easy to use software for basic photo editing. Photo print quality is excellent (smooth gradations and good detail) and simulates natural-looking colours.
The noisy mechanical paper feed of the Canon Pixma iP3600 can be quite annoying, and black text sometimes shows ink spikes (ink bleeds along paper fibres), though this can be caused by poor paper quality. The printer does have a PictBridge socket. We wish it had Wi-Fi.
