Canon Pixma iP6210D Printer Review
Expert review of the Canon Pixma iP6210D printer
Designed to be a personal photo lab for home users and amateur photographers, the Canon Pixma iP6210D is integrated with better technology to support direct printing and ensure long-lasting photographs. The Canon iP6210D promises speed and high-quality printouts, too, but actual performance could be better and photo quality is mediocre (if not sub-par).
Design
The Canon Pixma iP6210D inkjet printer is integrated with the 6-ink 2-picoliter Micro-Nozzles and Canon's FINE cartridge technology. The main connectivity relies on high-speed USB 2.0 but an optional Bluetooth adapter can be installed to give the Pixma iP6210D wireless capability. There are built-in card readers that support memory stick, compact flash, and SD cards. The centrepiece of the basic control panel is the mono 2-line LCD display so users can easily learn about the printer's status and navigate through the menus. The entire device weighs 3.7 kg and measures 438mm wide and 172mm tall.
Advantages
The Canon Pixma iP6210D is affordable with a small footprint and a user-friendly interface so it is quite simple to operate. Direct photo printing is possible and the 6-ink system works well for high resolution 4800x1200dpi printouts. The Pixma iP6210D can print borderless and photographs last longer on Canon speciality paper because of the ChromaLife100 technology. The optional Bluetooth unit makes it easy to print directly from a camera phone.
Disadvantages
The Canon Pixma iP6210D produces mediocre photos, and ink cartridges tend to be expensive. Output looks poor on plain paper and speeds are sluggish when printing text. The colours look too light when printing in fast draft mode. Users can print two-sided documents but it needs to be done manually with Canon's speciality paper to ensure good-looking output. While the Canon Pixma iP6210D supports Bluetooth connectivity, the optional adapter is expensive. Direct printing can be limited with the absence of a large colour display screen.
