The Epson EcoTank ET-M2140 is a monochrome multifunction inkjet printer that is suitable for a home office and for office desktop applications with low-volume printing demands. This unit includes printing, copying and colour scanning functions. The printer features a 35-page automatic document feeder (ADF) to facilitate copying. It will only accept A4 and legal-size paper. A duplex capability is built in to let you use less paper for print runs.
Design
The printer weighs 6.2kg and measures 375 x 347 x 302mm. The capacity of the standard paper input tray is 250 sheets, and the printer also has a one-sheet multipurpose input tray for use with legal-size paper. The Epson EcoTank ET M2140 features USB connectivity for easy connection to a PC and has 2MB of RAM. The printer’s maximum monthly duty cycle is 5,000 pages, though Epson recommends keeping monthly printing volumes to between 200 and 800 pages.
Advantages
The time to print the first page is less than 6 seconds, and the print speed is 20 pages per minute. Print, colour scan and monochrome scan resolution are all at 1200 x 2400 dpi, while the resolution for the copy function is 600 x 1200 dpi. The reduction/enlargement capabilities for the copy function range from 25% to 400%. The printer supports Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS operating systems. The printer uses refillable ink tanks rather than ink cartridges. Each tank holds enough ink to print 6,000 pages at 5% average coverage, keeping interruptions to add ink to a minimum and maintaining your productivity.
Disadvantages
The printer does not have colour printing or colour copying abilities, which would require you to purchase an additional printer if you need those functions on a regular basis. The printer does not have Wi-Fi connection capability and only has a maximum paper input capacity of 251 sheets.
