The Epson EcoTank ET-M3170 is a monochrome multifunction inkjet printer with printing, scanning, copying and faxing functions. With an ink tank rated to yield about 11,000 pages, it provides consistent output with less intervention, therefore helping to increase productivity. The ink tank is located at the front of the printer, giving a clear view of ink levels and making it easy to monitor and plan ahead. Its fast first page out time of six seconds from sleep mode and a print speed of 20 pages per minute mean there’ll be no long waits for print runs to finish.
Design
The ET-M3170 has a stylish and compact design. It measures 375mm x 347mm x 346mm (width x depth x height) and weighs 7.3kg, making it easy to place on a desktop. It also has an automatic document feeder (ADF) and a 250-sheet input tray, and it has a maximum duty cycle of approximately 20,000 pages per month. The paper sizes it handles are A4, legal, letter, executive, A5, A6, B5, B6, C6 (envelope), No. 10 (envelope) and DL (envelope), with compatible paper weights of between 64 g/m² and 256 g/m².
Advantages
The ET-M3170 uses inkjet technology and, therefore, does not require any heat during the printing process, keeping energy use low and helping to reduce utility costs. It also has both Wi-Fi and USB connectivity as well as access to Epson’s free mobile printing apps, allowing users to print from anywhere in the office. Its PrecisionCore printhead offers speed, reliability, quality and efficiency, and organisations can save paper thanks to automatic duplex printing.
Disadvantages
The Epson EcoTank ET-M3170 is a hardworking, high-output multifunction device, but it only provides monochrome prints, so it is not suitable as the main printer for an organisation that has more diverse printing requirements.
