High-resolution colour printing is the speciality of the Epson Stylus Pro 9900 SpectroProofer, a wide format printer with a user-friendly and versatile mechanism. Although the name of this machine is probably more synonymous with the name of a gadget found in a James Bond movie than the name of a printing device, the SpectroProofer 9900 is in fact merely an inkjet printer, but an impressive one nonetheless. The device offers the smoothest colour gradients with less grain because of the 2880dpi resolution and HDR pigment inks and is quite hard to fault in terms of performance.
Design
The Epson Stylus SpectroProofer 9900 wide-format printer weighs 129.5Kg and it requires quite a lot more space because it is 1,864mm wide and 667mm deep. A 2.5-inch display screen is conveniently located on the right-hand top corner of the Epson Stylus Pro 9900 SpectroProofer inkjet printer while the USB and Ethernet interfaces are at the back.
Advantages
The Epson Stylus Pro 9900 SpectroProofer uses pigmented Ultrachrome HDR inks so output lasts longer and remains smudge and fade-resistant for years. It is surprisingly quiet when operating, and it is compatible with a wide range of Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. Users can enjoy high-resolution output in 2880x1440dpi and share the Epson Stylus Pro 9900 SpectroProofer in a network. The SpectroProofer 9900 wide-format printer is easier to configure because of the built-in colour LCD screen and the 'auto nozzle check' function. It is also praised for its grain reduction feature, making printouts look smooth and flawless.
Disadvantages
The expensive price is one of the major downsides to the Stylus Pro 9900 SpectroProofer printer. The built-in memory is of the Epson Stylus Pro 9900 SpectroProofer limited to 256MB only and when connected to a network, the allotted memory is only up to 64MB.
