The Epson XP-245 is an all-in-one printer, scanner and copier, all packed into a stylish and compact unit that can fit easily onto any desktop in a modern office space. It uses individual inks, so only the colour that is needed has to be replaced, and the Epson Connect app is used to enable printing on the go from any compatible device such as a tablet or smartphone. The production of lab-quality photos and clear, crisp text is no problem with this flexible and easily controlled unit.
The Epson XP-245 measures 15.3x11.8x5.7 inches and weighs 3.9kg. Epson Easy Photo Print is included in the package, along with a power cable and ink cartridges. Print resolution is 5760x1440 dpi, and the printing speed is 27 pages monochrome or 15 pages colour per minute. The scan resolution is 1200x2400 dpi, and the scanner uses a contact image sensor. There is one paper tray and printing is duplex. Manual duplex and border-less print are both handled. Letters as well as most standard paper sizes and types from A4 to B5 can be used.
With the Epson XP-245 offering excellent print capabilities at good value, compromise is no longer needed when choosing a suitable home scanner, printer and copier combined into this one stylish unit. The individual inks and the ability to print while on the go provide the flexibility needed for modern workplaces, and the unit can be connected directly to any smart input device.
Individual paper feeds and the rather simplistic LCD display panel might be considered a disadvantage by some users. The body’s square shape might also not suit everyone’s aesthetic preferences, and there is some flimsiness in the construction that may not square with all users’ ideas of what a solid-state printer, scanner and copier should be.
