Expert review of the HP Designjet T930 printer
The HP T930 is a HP Thermal inkjet printer from the DesignJet series that delivers detailed prints of a professional standard. It will represent a significant investment for a small business, but is ideally suited to a workplace that works on a lot of CAD and GIS projects, such as an architectural firm. Buyers should be aware that this is just a printer, and if they require a model that also has the capability to scan and copy, there are other HP printers that may suit their needs better.
Design
The dimensions of the HP DesignJet T930 are 91.6cm x 139.9cm x 111cm. It takes six 300ml ink cartridges, adding dark black and neutral grey to the standard printer inks, and with a 91.4m media roll, it allows for continuous printing. HP mobile printing allows the printer to integrate with iOS and Android office devices. A 50-page stacking tray collects and collates the prints.
Advantages
The separate ink cartridges bring a wide range of colours and precise detail to plans, drawings and maps. With a print resolution of 2400 x 1200 optimized dpi, the quality of the images is of a high professional standard. It works efficiently at a rate of 21 sec/page on A1 Draft and incorporates a 50-page stacking tray to keep prints neatly organised until they can be collected from the printer. The size of the media roll and the ink cartridges increases efficiency and allows for a long period of uninterrupted printing. The HP DesignJet T930 includes a number of security features to keep prints confidential.
Disadvantages
The HP DesignJet T930 is a professional-standard printer and will represent a significant investment of funds. Although the print quality is high, with a close inspection some colour bleed may be seen. Ink consumption in this printer is slightly higher than some printers of a similar standard. There are no other features, such as copying and scanning.
