The Deskjet 1280 is aimed at businesses that need to print large documents such as point of sale posters, staff notices or large spreadsheets. It can print anything from A3 down to A6 and accepts a range of different media types including, paper, cardboard, envelopes, banners and labels. Unfortunately, the HP 1280 inkjet printer can't be put on a network but shouldn't be too much of a problem as it's not designed for high volume printing.
Design
Simplicity seems to be the theme with this particular HP model. There are just three buttons (Power, Paper-Feed, Cancel) and a single low-ink indicator (which is fairly accurate). The paper feed system is similar to other HPs with the up and over design, there is, however, the option to remove the back of the printer, allowing the paper to flow freely across.
Advantages
The software which comes with the Deskjet 1280 inkjet printer is superb and has some nifty features such as the ability to switch print size from A6 right up to A3 at the click of a button. The flexibility to be able to print on a range of different materials makes the Deskjet 1280 ultra-versatile and sets it aside from some of its close competitors.
Disadvantages
Print quality is a mixed bag, the HP Deskjet 1280 can easily handle graphs, text and spreadsheets but falls apart when printing in full colour. Prints appear blotchy and lack depth; there are also signs of banding when printing in A3. Overall, the HP 1280 is a versatile all-rounder but due to its print quality is best suited for business documents as opposed to creative.
