Although outdated, the HP Deskjet 420 may still satisfy the needs of home users who do minimal printing as well as users who want a basic, no-nonsense printer that can be operated, eyes closed. This inkjet is one of the oldest from HP, with a very unimpressive 3 ppm average speed. The HP Deskjet 420 printer doesn't produce very high resolution outputs. However, they may be good enough for printing everyday documents, recipes, or maps.
Design
Measuring 14.5x7.34x7 inches, the HP Deskjet 420 colour inkjet will not take up much space on a desktop. However, it is unusually heavy at 7 pounds, compared to other inkjets of the same size. The HP Deskjet 420 resembles the older Deskjet 400 model, featuring the same fold-up tray that can only handle up to 50 sheets of paper. The Deskjet 420 uses 2 ink cartridges for black and colour, although resolutions are not as impressive.
Advantages
The HP Deskjet 420 inkjet printer has a small footprint, and it delivers top quality documents. However, the Deskjet 320 is annoyingly slow, averaging 3 pages per minute. Ink cartridges have high page yields, although they can be a bit pricey.
