Expert review of the HP Deskjet 845cvr printer
The HP Deskjet-845cvr is an inkjet printer in HP’s popular Deskjet range, ideal for home use and for use in a small office. It handles photo and document printing reliably and accurately, has good resolution and print speed and a choice of connectivity options. It is capable of printing onto a range of different media types such as envelopes, labels and transparencies, and its dimensions are modest enough to allow it to fit comfortably onto any handy desk or other workspace in the home or office. A good all-rounder, the HP Deskjet-845cvr has numerous points to recommend its serious consideration.
Design
The HP Deskjet-845cvr measures 18.5 x 10.7 x 8.5 in and weighs 10 lb, and it is ready to use almost straight from the box. The maximum colour resolution of this printer is 600x300 dpi, and 600x600 dpi for black-and-white. The print speed is satisfactory, at 3 ppm for colour prints and 6 ppm for monochrome. The printer’s feed shelf can handle up to 100 sheets at a time, so for medium-sized runs it can be loaded and left alone to do the job. A CD-ROM is used to load the drivers and other software after connecting the printer up to a PC using its USB or parallel port connection.
Advantages
The HP Deskjet-845cvr is a good all-rounder that performs most of the print jobs needed by any small office or domestic network. Handling transparencies, labels, envelopes and a variety of other media with equal ease, it’s a powerful little unit that delivers every time.
Disadvantages
One of the few disadvantages of this flexible printer is that it does not allow for copying or scanning, and there is no mounted LCD display to fine tune the output and see print previews and related information. It is also relatively slow when compared to newer models.
