Expert review of the HP Envy 5032 All-in-One printer
The HP Envy 5032 is a multi-function inkjet computer which incorporates a scanner and copier as well as a colour printer. It is best suited to a domestic setting which needs to print everyday documents and family photos. The wireless connectivity means everyone in the family can easily use this printer from their favourite device. It is compatible with HP’s Instant Ink service, meaning that you can choose to subscribe and ensure you never run out of ink. The quality of the printing is good, but the print speeds are slow, which may prove frustrating for large print runs.
Design
The HP Envy 5032 has a stylish off-white case with a swooping black band which breaks up the monotony associated with desktop printers. Print speeds are 10 ppm in monochrome and 7 ppm in colour, although faster speeds can be achieved in draft mode. Print resolution is 4800 x 1200 dpi and the monthly duty cycle is 1,000 pages. Connection is achieved via a USB interface or wirelessly. Paper is stored in a 100 sheet input tray. There is a 5.5 cm mono graphics display touchscreen on the front of the device for operating the printer.
Advantages
With Wi-Fi connectivity and mobile apps, the HP Envy 5032 does not need to be connected to a computer and can print from multiple devices including PCs, laptops and smart devices. The touch screen display makes managing and monitoring the printer easy. The printer is compatible with HP’s Instant Ink service, which monitors ink levels and ensures fresh supplies are delivered when needed, so you never run out. Duplex printing comes as standard.
Disadvantages
Printing speeds on the HP Envy 5030 are slow, meaning large printing jobs become very time- consuming. There is no fax function, so an additional device requiring more expense and space may be needed. Installation of this printer can be complicated. The Instant ink subscription service only really benefits those who print on a regular basis, those with occasional print needs but standard inks are available for those with a more erratic printing schedule.
