This compact and affordable printer is built for small offices that need an all-in-one device. The HP Officejet 5110 is a space-saver that is marketed to be an efficient workhorse, but its actual performance reveals otherwise. Some users complain that its sluggish speed can get in the way of productivity.
Design
This handy device features a scanner, fax machine, and a copier built around a 4800x1200 dpi high-resolution print engine. Users can connect the HP Officejet 5110 to their PC using a USB cord, but they can also use it as a standalone copier and fax machine. The control panel (with small display screen) is on the front top centre of the frame. It looks a little busy, but the buttons are organised for dedicated copy, scan, fax, and navigation options.
Advantages
Because the HP Officejet 5110 is an all-in-one machine, it is an excellent addition to a small office which requires a basic scanner, copier, fax, and a printer. The scanner is integrated with ReadIris Pro OCR software, so scanned documents can be converted to editable text. The copier uses digital image processing, while printer is integrated with HP Photo REt III. The HP Officejet 5110 prints laser-like text. Extra features for faxing and copying are available.
Disadvantages
If this is your first printer and you do not have a USB cord, you need to buy one separately because the HP Officejet 5110 package does not include it. Some users also complain about the flimsy build. The speed of the HP Officejet 5110 in draft mode is 11.3 in black and 8 ppm in colour, and fax transmission is painfully slow, too, at only 6 Kbps. Print speed drops even further in 'normal' and 'best' mode.
