The HP PSC 1205 uses HP 56 ink cartridges. HP 56 ink comes in black; the black cartridge prints 520 pages.
This multifunction device is designed to meet the basic scanning, copying, and printing needs of a small office. The HP PSC 1205 is user-friendly and promises true-to-life pictures and crisp-looking text documents, but it would have been better if it had a fax machine, networking capabilities, and faster print speeds.
The HP PSC 1205 is an easy-to-use inkjet colour printer integrated with a digital copier and a CIS scanner. It is lightweight and easily mobile at 10.9 lb. It's also fairly compact, measuring 10.2 inches in diameter (with the paper tray), 16.76 inches wide, and 6.68 inches tall. The printer is energy efficient and consumes a maximum of 5 watts when printing. HP gave this model an 8MB RAM, which some say is rather insufficient for a multifunction device.
Photo printing with the HP PSC 1205 is impressive because you can enhance to resolution to 4800x1200 dpi. Users can scan documents quickly because the scanner does not need to be warmed-up, and the resolution of scanned objects can be digitally enhanced up to 19200 dpi. Unlike other inkjet printers, the HP PSC 1205 is quieter when printing, with only 49dBA of sound in monochrome printing and 45dBA in colour. The printer is also affordable and can be used as a standalone copier.
While the HP PSC 1205 offers good quality output, it is very slow. A high-resolution photograph on an A4 paper takes at least 5 minutes to come out. At its fastest 'draft' mode, the HP PSC 1205 can only print up to 12ppm (monochrome) and 10ppm (colour). The scanner could use improvement in terms of speed and handling darker colours. The copier is slow, too.
