The HP PSC 1401 is a no-nonsense multifunction printer. It scans, copies, and prints and delivers top quality output. It is a stand-alone machine and can copy even without a computer. This printer is one of the most inexpensive multifunction printers in the market, but it lacks a fax machine and memory card readers.
Design
The compact size of the HP PSC 1401 makes it a good printer for offices and homes with small working spaces. It has a monthly duty cycle of 5000 pages (great for average-use requirements) and has an input capacity of 100 sheets. Because it integrates a superior scanner and copier, it saves space and cuts down running costs.
Advantages
This budget-friendly printer is very easy to use, from set-up to actual operation. It has a control panel (including a small LED display) to indicate the number of copies for copying. It produces excellent photos and documents (just like high-end printers) minus the hefty initial purchase costs and running costs.
Disadvantages
The HP PSC 1401 does not have a fax or an automatic document feeder. Also, the HP PSC 1401 is not ideal for large workgroups as it only uses a USB cable, which needs to be bought separately from the printer. There are certainly many other printers that are just a little bit more expensive than the HP PSC 1401 but have more features.
