The Star SP2000 is a plain and simple printer aimed at businesses that are looking for a fast and easy-to-use device for their receipts. The SP2000 printer from Star Micronics uses low-cost dot matrix printing technology and integrates a convenient tear bar with an auto-cutter for more convenience and better workflow. However, the Star SP2000 receipt printer is slow and has been replaced by a more improved model that boasts faster speeds.
Design
Clean lines and a plain enclosure define the appearance of the Star SP2000 dot-matrix printer. The SP-2000 impact printer comes with a reliable dot matrix print engine to keep running costs to a minimum, and it is equipped with convenient features for cutting paper, a paper sensor, and cash drawers. This Star SP2000 POS printer can be connected to a computer via a parallel cable.
Advantages
This versatile device includes 2 cash drawer drivers. The Star SP2000 is compatible with ESC/POS mode emulation because of the cartridge-type interface. Journals are provided with a paper rewinder, and the printer can alert users when paper is about to run-out. The Star SP 2000 barcode printer can print in two colours (black and red), and for more stability, there is an option to mount the unit on the wall. Black and red Star SP2000 ink ribbons are still available online and are usually inexpensive. The printer includes a tear bar and an auto-cutting function.
Disadvantages
The Star Micronics SP2000 printer model is now obsolete. The manufacturer has since released a speedier model with an improved interface.
