Xerox ColorQube 8570DN Printer Review
Expert review of the Xerox ColorQube 8570DN printer
The Xerox ColorQube 8570DN is a solid ink printer, with very high optional paper capacity and drop-in ink replacements. The machine is customisable and can be fully expanded to take up to 2,125 sheets, making it ideal for heavy-duty printing needs. It offers low running costs for colour, and print quality is adequate for the majority of business needs.
Design
The Xerox ColorQube 8570DN impresses with its immense paper handling facilities, which allows users to load up 525 sheets in a standard paper tray and a further 100 in the multipurpose feeder. The unit is compact and has a grey finish, which is ideal for the majority of office spaces. Users operate the printer via a set of buttons on a blue panel located on the top of the machine, while solid blocks of ink for each primary colour are installed from beneath a hinged top cover.
Advantages
The ColorQube 8570DN has a very high duplex speed of 22.2 sides per minute, and text and colour graphics documents also impress with figures of 18.8 ppm. Prints are sharp, vibrant and clean, and running costs are competitive. This compares favourably with similarly priced laser printers.
Disadvantages
The ColorQube 8570DN does have a noisy paper feed mechanism, which adds to its already loud operation, and it can take a bit of time to warm up when turned on at the start of the day, which can inconvenience some users. Wi-Fi connectivity is only an option on some models, so users will have to make do with wired Ethernet, and there is no way to connect a USB drive. Dark blue and green is also set to print by default.
