The Brother MFC-6490 uses Brother LC1100-PACK ink cartridges. Brother LC1100-PACK ink comes in black and multicolour; the black cartridge prints 900 pages, the multicolour cartridge prints 750 pages.
A wide-format MFP, the Brother MFC-6490 is designed for small office users but can also be used as a home printer. The machine is a bit expensive for its class, but is a good investment especially for work environments and households with multiple users. The Brother MFC-6490 can print, copy, fax, and scan, and is a little on the bulky side, especially since it can print wide-format documents like tabloids. It is an economical choice when it comes to ink usage, especially with its high-yield cartridges.
The Brother MFC-6490 measures 13.7x21.3x19.2 inches, and weighs only about 34.4 pounds. The machine also offers wireless networking support, and still comes standard with USB connectivity. The Brother MFC-6490 can also serve as a Wi-Fi hub for direct connection over a network of computers. It has a large paper handling capacity (up to 400 sheets, standard).
Other advantages of using the Brother MFC-6490 include good print speeds of up to 35ppm and 28ppm in black and white and colour, respectively. The machine is also a good choice for offices, because of its high monthly capacity. Users also appreciate its Wi-Fi capabilities, and large paper capacity, but most of all, its print quality.
The Brother MFC-6490 has low-yield standard cartridges, which makes the larger cartridges more economical to use. Many consumers also feel that an auto duplexing option might be a good addition.
