Users looking for a multifunction printer that can accommodate large A3 media will appreciate the Brother MFC-J6510DW for its good quality and affordable price. The printer promises more savings with duplex printing, a 4-cartridge ink system, and high-yield inks, but its lack of paper tray options means it cannot handle multiple media sizes and types simultaneously.

Design

The Brother MFC-J6510DW is a large and wide-format colour inkjet printer with a Super G3 33.6 Kbps fax modem, a flatbed scanner, and a copier with a 35-sheet automatic document feeder. It is integrated with the 4-cartridge ink system that uses high-yield inks for more savings. The control panel includes a widescreen 3.3-inch colour LCD display for easy viewing of files from a media card, digital camera, or USB flash drive. Quite heavy at almost 16kg, the Brother MFC-J6510DW is ENERGY STAR-qualified and it has built-in wired and wireless interfaces.

Advantages

The print speed of the Brother MFC-J6510DW is acceptable for an inkjet printer (up to 27 ppm in colour and 25 ppm in black). The printer, scanner, copier, and fax can support tabloid-size media. Its two-sided and borderless printing capabilities save and maximise resources, while the automatic document feeder lets users save time and effort when sending faxes or using the copy function. Users can scan directly to a media card or to their smart phone via the Brother iPrint&Scan feature, and set-up the Brother MFC-J6510DW to a wired or wireless network if required. Luckily, the Brother MFCJ6510DW produces high quality colour output.

Disadvantages

The Brother MFC-J6510DW has only one paper tray that can accommodate one type and size of media at a time. This means tabloid and letter-size paper cannot be loaded together. Text output needs to be slightly darker and crisper to look more impressive.
