The entry-level Brother PT-1005FB printer is very versatile and can be used around the house and even in the school or office. It can deliver durable labels that can withstand frost (food in freezer) or extreme heat (plants). The Brother PT-1005FB handheld labelling machine has an ergonomic design for easy use but would be better with the inclusion of a QWERTY keypad.

Design

The Brother PT-1005FB handheld label printer comes in silver and measures 107.4 x 202.6 x 56.6mm. A red rubber grip outlines the unit for easier handling. It has a large LCD display on top and on its side is a manual cutter. The LCD display has a battery weak display to alert re-charging or change of battery. Below the display are 51 keys for numbers and symbols, the alphabet, and function keys. This handheld unit has battery slots at the back along with the slots for the labels.

Advantages

Labelling has hundreds of possibilities, thanks to the 9 type styles, 6 frames and fill patterns as well as different character widths and sizes on the Brother PT-1005FB labelling machine. The versatile PT1005FB label maker can print a total of 2 lines on each adhesive and it has excellent features like repeat printing, mirror printing, numbering, underline, tape margins, and templates. To save energy, the Brother P-Touch PT-1005FB labeller has an auto power off. Labels have a maximum resolution of 180dpi and are delivered at 10mm per second.

Disadvantages

The LCD display of the P-Touch 1005FB label printer can be improved by making it a 2-liner instead of just 1. An AC adapter can be used for powering the device without batteries but isn't included with the 1005FB printer and is an additional cost.
