The Brother PT-1200 is a useful handheld label printer, but when compared to other, more modern label printers, it may not seem as user-friendly. This label printer is suitable for simple tasks but lacks the features of other printers, mainly because it is a manual machine.

Design

This Brother label maker is battery operated, but there is the option of an AC adapter, so it can be mains powered. It features a manual cutter for cutting labels to size. The printer has a zigzag QWERTY keyboard, and there is an LCD display that shows one line and four characters at a time. The printer uses the thermal transfer process to create the printing on the tape. The dimensions of the printer are 1.9 inches x 3.9 inches x 6.4 inches, and it weighs just 0.9lbs.

Advantages

Options for the Brother PTouch-1200 include a handy carrying case. The maximum print speed is 10mm per second, which is reasonable, and it uses widely available TZ cassette tapes for printing.
