This feature-packed and easy to use labeller is aimed at home and office users who require a fast and reliable way to label their CDs, folders, boxes and other items. The Brother PT-1280DT handheld label maker is reasonably priced and comes with convenient features like three favourite keys and five framing options, but the P-Touch 1280DT desktop labelling system can only print in a single font and it lacks a better portable power source.

Design

The Brother PT-1280DT desktop label printer has a sleek housing that measures 159mm wide, 150mm deep, and 80mm tall and weighs 470g without the tape cassette and batteries. It has 61 keys and a one-line, 15-character non-backlit LCD display screen. The built-in memory of the PT1280DT printer can store up to three favourite labels.

Advantages

It can print robust labels that can withstand high temperatures, ultraviolet exposure, exposure to industrial chemicals and moisture. The Brother PT1280DT label machine has a small footprint and a space saving design. A manual cutter comes with the unit. It's easy to input data into the Brother P-Touch PT-1280DT labeller due to the LCD screen and QWERTY, AZERTY, or QWERTZ keyboard. Five frame styles and 63 symbols are supported, as well as a wide range of tapes like fabric iron-on, silver metallic, flexi ID, and strong adhesive. Users are alerted when the batteries need changing.

Disadvantages

The P-Touch 1280DT labeller runs on six AAA batteries and users must purchase an adapter separately if they want to run it on electricity. Helsinki is its only built-in font. The Brother PT-1280DT desktop electronic label machine doesn’t print barcodes.
