The Brother PT-M95 is a handheld labelling machine that is suitable for domestic or home office use. It has multiple options for indoor labelling, but as it only takes non-laminated tapes, the labels may not last well in challenging or outdoor conditions. The light weight of the device allows it to be easily portable to wherever it is needed. With a wide variety of fonts and frames as well as eight “deco” patterns, it is easy and fun to create unique labels. In the default settings, the margins of the tape are wide, which results in considerable tape wastage, though this can be adjusted. The use of four AAA batteries to power the device makes running costs high, and the battery indicator is unreliable.
The Brother PT-M95 is a small device in a light-coloured design measuring 111 x 156 x 61mm. On the front is a Qwerty keyboard and a 12-character display. It is powered by four AAA batteries, and takes tapes in two widths: 9mm and 12mm. Print speed is 7.5mm per second and print resolution is 230 dpi. It incorporates a manual cutter.
The Brother P-Touch M95 has an auto power-off function to conserve battery life. A wide variety of frames, fonts, character and “deco” patterns allows the creation of unique labels. Three labels can be stored for quick reprinting. It is straightforward to set up and use. It is lightweight, making it comfortable to operate and easily portable.
As the Brother PT-M95 only uses non-laminated tape, the labels are not suitable for outdoor use or other challenging conditions. The LCD screen is not backlit, so it can be hard to read in some lights. Text margins in the default setting are large, resulting in tape wastage. There are no numbers on the keyboard- the function key is needed to type them. The battery indicator is unreliable.
