The Brother QL-810W is a specialist printer for printing labels. This twin-colour thermal printer is the first in the QL range from Brother, and it does not require any ink, toner or ribbon, making it super easy to use. For those who need to print lots of labels, this small printer offers a good solid performance at a reasonable price.
The Brother QL810W is a compact printer especially designed for producing labels. Unlike some other label printers, it can print black on white and black and red on white. It can produce 110 labels per minute, although it is slower when using black and red on white. The printer has an automatic cutter. Windows and Mac software are compatible with the device, as are Android and iOS apps. The connectivity is via Wi-Fi, which enables printing from a smartphone or tablet computer. The resolution is 300 x 600 dpi. Loading labels is easy, simply lift the lid and drop in the roll. The label size is automatically detected by the printer. Using the printer software, you are able to select single characters or words to be printed in red (when using black and red on white labels).
The Brother QL-810W offers good value for money when compared to similar printers on the market. Its build quality is impressive, and it is able to print using black and red as well as just black. It produces good, clear labels and printing generally does not take long.
Printing black on white is fast, but printing black and red on white slows the Brother QL-810W down. The black comes out clear, but the red is slightly faded and a little patchy. The black and red tape is a little on the expensive side, and it is not clear how you set up to print in red. Larger companies may prefer a wired over a wireless connection.
