Our Verdict:

The Brother RL-700S is an on-demand label printer that will be a useful addition to the office, particularly for the management of assets, people and documents. It produces standard and RFID labels, the latter being particularly hardwearing and useful in environments where they might get exposed to chemicals, extreme temperatures and water. It is a compact, stylish device that is stored easily, making it useful even when space is limited. Using the device to create labels is easy. It integrates smoothly with Windows software, which makes it a straightforward task to create a unique label featuring text and graphics. However, as it has to be plugged into a PC, it will not be possible to print from smart devices or anywhere without easy access to mains electricity.

Design

The Brother RL700S takes tapes in seven different sizes, ranging from 3.5mm to 36mm. It utilises thermal transfer print technology to produce the labels. The device comes in a stylish white design and measures 135 x 190 x 130 mm. There is a small LCD screen on the front of the device, and an automatic cutter is incorporated into the machine. The print speed is 20mm per second. It is powered using an AC adaptor.

Advantages

With a built-in RFID reader and writer, the Brother RL-700S produces hardwearing labels that are scratch-proof and can withstand exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures and water. The device is easy to install and operate. An automatic label cutter ensures that labels are the required length. It integrates easily with Windows software, and is able to print text, graphics and bar codes.

Disadvantages
