Expert review of the Brother HL-5040 printer
Designed for micro offices or home offices, the Brother HL-5040 is a monochrome laser printer. It has a monthly duty cycle of 20,000 pages and it can deliver a resolution of 2,400 x 600 dpi. The Brother HL-5040 mono laser printer comes with an 8MB memory but optional memory of up to 128 MB can be used. The HL5040 from Brother has a slow print speed and does not offer standard networking connectivity.
Design
The Brother HL-5040 desktop laser printer is a cube-like device with a paper cassette and an output tray. It has a small control panel with indicator lights and switches. For connectivity, USB and parallel ports are available. The Brother HL-5040 printer can handle 250 sheets at a time and an optional 250-sheet cassette is available. Print speed can go as fast as 17 ppm. The Brother HL5040 printer weighs 10.5 kg and measures 382 x 383 x 252 mm.
