The Brother MFC-7860DW uses Brother DR2200 toner cartridges. Brother DR2200 toner comes in black; the black cartridge prints 12,000 pages.
The most expensive of Brother's recent mono laser releases, the Brother MFC-7860DW has all the same core features as the earlier versions, but adds a couple of capabilities to make it more suitable for small offices. The machine can copy, scan, and fax, as well as print at an impressive rate of 27 ppm. However, the Brother MFC-7860DW can only print monochrome documents, putting it a step behind good-quality inkjets which offer all the same features plus colour printing.
The Brother MFC-7860DW is basically the same machine as the 7360 and 7460 release. It features an automatic duplexer and automatic document feeder, along with a flat bed scanner, and an intuitive control panel. The Brother MFC-7860DW is a worthy upgrade, as it features wireless connectivity, in addition to the standard USB and Ethernet interface.
Wireless connectivity is not the only upgrade the Brother MFC-7860DW offers. The machine also has a scan to device option, allowing users not only to scan directly to but also print directly from devices such as iPod Touch, iPad, and iPhone. Other added conveniences include high page yields (up to 2600 pages), and high-resolution outputs, which can reach up to 2400x600 dpi.
The Brother MFC-7860DW is not without disadvantages. Users often complain of low paper capacity. This device cannot print colour, but the scanner can process coloured documents which is some consolation.
