Expert review of the Canon imageRUNNER 1730i printer
If you are looking for a fairly speedy, reliable all in-one photocopier/printer then the Canon IR-1730i is a must-have. Speeds of 30ppm make this ideal for workgroups and small businesses, and in addition to this it is compatible with both MS Windows and Mac OS. However, with a resolution of just 600 x 600dpi the photocopier may not be ideal for those of you who need to make high-res reproductions.
Design
The Canon IR-1730i looks great – it's sleek design and subtle features make it a perfect choice for business use. However, if office space is an issue then you may encounter a few problems; with dimensions of 798mm(W), 395mm(D), and 263mm(H) this printer is anything but compact. The printer, does, however, come with a 5.7" LCD standard touch screen allowing you to easily access and navigate through the various menus.
Advantages
Not only is cost minimisation emphasised through the uniFLOW solution cost centre, but the Canon IR-1730i also consumes as little as 1 watt of energy during sleep mode. The IR-1730i also has professional network integration (LDAP) for global address book integration and active directory verification, making this a perfect choice for small to medium businesses.
Disadvantages
Unfortunately, the Canon IR-1730i fails to impress in the quality and practicality departments; prints appear washed out and unless there is a large amount of desk space, this printer will struggle to fit in.
