Expert review of the Canon IR-C356i printer
The Canon IR c356i is a full colour laser desktop device capable of printing 35 sheets of A4 every minute with a maximum monthly peak volume of 40,000 pages. A huge 10.1-inch WVGA touchscreen panel dominates the design and provides an excellent level of access and usability for employees. It excels at print, copy, and scan functions, and finishers including stapling add a premium flourish to documents. It also has extensive configuration options and is energy efficient.
Design
The Canon IR c356i has a light grey colour finish with black accents to complement decor types in modern office environments. Print resolution of 9,600 x 600 dpi equivalent produces excellent prints and there is a 100-sheet multipurpose tray and a maximum input capacity of 2,300 sheets when extras are added. Connectivity options include Ethernet and wireless LAN, while a snappy 1.75 GHz dual core processor and 3 GB of RAM power the device. It features 250 GB of hard drive space.
Advantages
The Canon IR 356i can connect to the cloud to access documents for printing tasks, and wireless connection provides support for Apple AirPrint and Mopria on smartphones. It is possible to use mobile devices rather than a desktop PC to manage and optimise daily workflows. Remote access also provides advanced fleet management options. A user activity log provides transparency as print behaviour can be tracked over time. Canon uses the latest technology to reduce total cost of print and drive energy efficiency. Its large colour touch panel is a joy to use.
Disadvantages
The Canon IR 356i can be noisy during operation, which may not be suitable for smaller, enclosed business spaces. A standard output tray of 250 sheets is adequate but unlikely to support larger workgroups.
