Promising reduced ownership costs, productivity-boosting functions, and a high duty cycle, the Epson AL-MX300DN is a good option for a small office that needs a robust and reliable multifunction printer. It is fast, versatile, and secure, and efficiently boosts productivity in the office. The lack of expandability makes it unsuitable for a growing business, however.
Design
The Epson AL-MX300DN has a monochrome 1200x1200 laser printer, flatbed colour scanner, and a digital copier. The entire unit weighs 18.6kg and measures 430mm wide, 503mm tall, and 426mm deep. It runs on a Gigabyte of memory while being powered with a 750MHz processor. Paper is handled through a 50-sheet automatic document feeder, standard 300-sheet tray, and a 50-sheet multi-purpose tray. The output tray can handle 150 sheets. The main interfaces of the AL-MX300DN are Ethernet and USB 2.0 type A.
Advantages
Paper capacity can be increased to 550 sheets. The print speed is 35ppm, with the first page out in 5.5 seconds. Two-sided printing is standard in the Epson AL-MX300DN. Security features help protect sensitive data that is being scanned, printed, or copied. Users can scan documents and send them directly to network folders, FTP, or email accounts. The Epson AL-MX300DN works with the free iPrint app, which allows direct print and scanning from smart phones. Files may be scanned straight to a USB flash drive. Document Capture Pro is bundled with the printer for easy organisation of documents.
Disadvantages
The Epson AL-MX300DN lacks further expansions for the memory and paper capacity. The processor speed is not enough for multi-tasking. The copy resolution is limited to 600x600dpi. There is no built-in Wi-Fi in the Epson AL-MX300DN.
