Expert review of the Epson AcuLaser CX37DN printer
Affordable and versatile, the Epson AcuLaser CX37DN is great for medium to large-scale offices looking for a multifunction colour laser printer. It boasts state-of-the-art printing, fax machine, and scanning capabilities packed into one compact body. The only downside is that replacement cartridges are quite expensive.
Design
The most striking feature of the Epson AcuLaser CX37DN is its efficient space saving design and its tandem printing technology. Print resolution can reach up to 600x600 dpi. It can print colour and monochrome pages in speeds of up to 24ppm, and can publish documents and pictures directly from a USB host. The flatbed scanner features 600x600dpi optical and output resolutions and is compatible with WIA and TWAIN, while fax speed is 33.6kbps. The toners, photoconductors, and cartridges (from the C3900 series) are widely available.
Advantages
Surprisingly productive for its size, this printer features an automatic document feeder and an additional paper tray to save users time and effort. Being multifunctional, it can print double-sided A4; the CX37DTNF and CX37DNF models can copy, scan, and fax documents. Maximum duty cycle is 120,000 pages per month, and the copy and print speed is an impressive 24ppm. The AcuLaser features PDL Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, so it can be easily integrated into complex IT settings. Its long-lasting toners and energy efficiency mean lower ownership costs.
Disadvantages
While the Epson CX37DN does have long-lasting toners, the cartridges themselves are on the expensive side – a problem with all Epson ink cartridges, it seems. Note that while the Epson AcuLaser CX37DN series is marketed as a multifunction printer and fax machine, the fax feature is only available on 2 models in the series.
