HP LaserJet 5200 Printer Review
Expert review of the HP LaserJet 5200 printer
The HP LaserJet 5200 printer is an excellent workhorse printer that is ready to meet the demands of a small business or a large organisation. This monochrome laser printer is able to print up to 35 pages per minute and can complete a monthly duty cycle of 65,000 pages. The HP 5200 uses HP ProRes 1200 and HP FastRes 1200 to enhance images and allows printing in a maximum resolution of 1,200 x 1,200 dpi. This printer is also able to get its first printout in 10 seconds thanks to a MIPS 460 MHz processor and 48 MB of RAM that uses DDR SDRAM technology.
Design
The HP 5200 has dimensions of 49.02 cm in width, 56.38 cm in depth, and a height of 27.43 cm. This printer is built to be sturdy and has a weight of 20.18 kilograms. The printer features a status LCD screen that is built-in and is simple to use. The design of the HP LaserJet 5200 allows you to connect to your computer using a parallel or USB interface. There are two media feeders on the HP 5200 that allow you to load a maximum capacity of 350 sheets.
Advantages
One of the great advantages of this printer is the option for duplex printing, which will allow you to print on both sides of paper and will reduce paper waste. This printer also has a memory expansion slot that will allow you to upgrade RAM to 512 MB, allowing your printer to work even faster and handle more print jobs. This printer can also print on an array of media which include cards, recycled paper, envelopes, vellum paper, plain paper, labels, bond paper, and transparencies.
Disadvantages
The only downside to this printer is its lack of printer or copier. This printer is intended to be used as primary printer and does not have the ability to connect multiple computers. In addition, the HP 5200 creates a sound emission of 54 decibels during operation and 31 decibels during standby, a level that some may find quite noisy. You may also want to consider another printer if you are looking for the ability to print in colour or need a printer for a local area network.
