The HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401a uses HP 80A toner cartridges. HP 80A toner comes in black; the black cartridge prints 2,700 pages.
A small to medium-sized office can increase productivity to boost the business with the HP LaserJet Pro M401a mono laser printer, a single function monochrome printer with a high 1200x1200dpi resolution. With a robust laser print engine, it is capable of printing more pages faster than inkjet printers. The HP LaserJet Pro 400 Printer M401a is designed for a growing workplace, too, but doesn't offer much in terms of overall features.
The boxy yet compact design of the HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401a printer is simple enough for a professional environment. The layout resembles most laser printers of its kind, with a small display screen on the top right-hand side and the output tray in the centre. Paper is loaded on input trays at the bottom. Connectivity is limited to USB 2.0, but the HP M401a mono laser printer runs well with an 800MHz processor and 128MB of memory.
The HP M401a LaserJet Pro is praised for its compact, desktop-friendly size. The LaserJet Pro 400 M401a prints fairly fast at up to 33ppm and documents are produced well with crisp and sharp fonts and details. Users can upgrade the HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401a monochrome printer to include an optional 500-sheet input tray. Although the LaserJet Pro M401a is limited to using black toner there are plenty of options for replacement cartridges with original HP 80A or HP 80X cartridges holding varying amounts of toner and cheaper compatible HP M401a toner cartridges made from recycled materials for users on a limited budget.
The HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401a printer is significantly heavy, weighing 10.1Kg, and it does not offer Wi-Fi and mobile printing capabilities. The device is not ENERGY STAR-qualified and it can be expensive to run. A USB cable should be purchased separately for the LaserJet Pro M401a. Expanding this printer to accommodate additional paper trays can be expensive. The absence of colour printing and the limited media support can be downsides among creative environments.
