Expert review of the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw printer
The HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw is a great printer, dependable in all sorts of professional and personal situations. While it may not be the most powerful machine on the market, it’s certainly useful – especially when it comes to its memory and integrated functions. Don’t forget, however, that it has a relatively small touchscreen and slow printing speed.
Design
This printing device comes with a sheetfed finished output handling system, and it has a media capacity of 100 sheets, or 10 envelopes. It has an output bin of 150 sheets, and it comes with a maximum print speed of 31 ppm for black and white A4 duplexed prints and a print speed of 38 ppm for single-sided A4 prints. It has a scanning resolution of up to 1200 x 1200 dpi, while the print resolution is up to 4800 x 600 dpi. In terms of the control panel, it has a colour touchscreen for ease of use. This printer has dimensions of 420 x 390 x 323 mm and weighs 12.6kg.
Advantages
This is a versatile device with a range of functions, including everything from a fax machine to a scanner and a photocopier integrated into it too. It has an internal memory of 512 MB RAM, and it comes with a handy USB cable inside the box for easy connectivity setup.
Disadvantages
It’s worth remembering that while it does have an intuitive colour touchscreen, at 2.7” it’s not as large as some of the other HP printers available out there. It’s not the fastest of printers on the market, either. While it can handle between 31 and 40 pages per minute for black printing, this is unlikely to be enough in an office or other location in which many copies are printed at once.
