Kyocera TASKalfa 5550ci Printer Review
Expert review of the Kyocera TASKalfa 5550ci printer
Designed to meet the productivity and imaging requirements of a large business, the Kyocera TASKalfa 5550ci colour laser printer is a versatile multifunction device integrated with business applications, colour technology, and the signature long-life technology for superb performance. The Kyocera 5550ci A3 colour multifunctional system is praised for its expandability options and functions that help simplify printing, copying, scanning, and faxing, but users are expected to pay more if they wish to make the most of the machine.
Design
The TASKalfa 5550ci multifunction printer is integrated with a digital copier, laser printer, and an OCR-compatible scanner. It weighs approximately 114Kg and measures 668mm wide, 747mm tall, and 767mm deep. Running on 2048MB of RAM with a 320GB HDD and a 750MHz IBM PowerPC processor, the Kyocera TASKalfa 5550ci printer aims to be a workhorse for networked computers with connectivity options that include a USB 2.0 host, high-speed USB 2.0, and fast Ethernet. The sleek, stylish frame requires more installation space when integrated with additional paper handling and the EFI fiery controller facilities. There is a large colour display screen on the well-labelled operator panel. The standard input capacity includes a 150-sheet multipurpose tray and two 500-sheet universal paper cassettes.
Advantages
Workgroups can improve their productivity with print speeds of up to 50ppm in colour and 55ppm in monochrome. It prints colour documents and graphics well with the advanced colour technology system and high 9,600x600dpi resolution. Jobs are simplified by the Kyocera 5550ci colour MFP with its range of finishing and paper handling functions. Users can save paper with two-sided printing, and print on a wide variety of media types. Four toners are used in the machine and money can be saved by purchasing a set of TASKalfa 5550ci printer cartridges from a discount online store. The Kyocera TASKalfa 5550ci colour multifunction printer is easy to use because of the large display screen and simplified operator panel. Direct printing is supported.
Disadvantages
The TASKalfa 5550ci laser printer could be better with built-in network and internet faxing. Slots for the card reader and print server are also optional. The high initial cost could turn-off the budget-conscious user from purchasing the Kyocera 5550ci colour printer, and the costs for upgrades makes it more expensive, too.
