This multifunction printer can increase productivity, minimise downtime, and reduce overall printing and running costs in the office. The Kyocera TASKalfa 5551ci is suitable for growing work groups, too, with an easily upgradeable paper capacity and finishing options and fast print speeds. However, users must be prepared for the high initial price and the expensive upgrades.
Design
The Kyocera TASKalfa 5551ci measures 668mm wide, 747mm tall, and 767mm deep, and weighs 114kg. It is built to be a robust free-standing unit with a two 500-sheet universal paper cassettes, a 150-sheet multi-purpose tray, standard duplexer, and a 250-sheet output bin. The device has downplayed rugged appeal, but the large colour touch panel adds a modern touch to it. It runs on 3.5GB of RAM with 1067GHz of dual core processing speed. The standard interfaces are fast Ethernet and high-speed USB 2.0.
Advantages
It prints directly from a USB flash drive. Users can add paper trays to increase the media capacity to 7,650 sheets for the input feeder, and 4,300 sheets for the output bin. The Kyocera TASKalfa 5551ci can produce images and text fast on a wide range of paper types, including banners. Image quality can be enhanced with advanced colour technology for richer and accurate details. Built-in storage is available, and there are security features that safeguard the privacy of sensitive documents, especially when being printed over a network. Finishing options allow users to make brochures and booklets using the Kyocera TASKalfa 5551ci. They can upgrade the device to include an EFI Fiery controller and OCR software.
Disadvantages
The expensive price and upgrades are the main downsides to the Kyocera TASKalfa 5551ci. Apart from those, its default 600x600dpi resolution is insufficient for producing crisp and non-grainy images. Fax is also optional extra for the Kyocera TASKalfa 5551ci.
