Kyocera TASKalfa 6501i Printer Review
Expert review of the Kyocera TASKalfa 6501i printer
This multifunction device features higher specifications for more efficient and faster document production and reliable security features. The Kyocera TASKalfa 6501i is upgradeable to include finishing options and additional paper trays to increase the media capacity for the growing office.
Design
The Kyocera TASKalfa 6501i is a free-standing unit that is 1,053mm tall, 723mm deep, and 685mm wide without the operator panel and duplexing unit. It weighs 155kg. The device is engineered with HyPAS solution platform and the signature laser monochrome technology of Kyocera, and it runs on 3072MB of RAM and 1067MHz of dual core processing speed. Two 1,500-sheet high capacity paper cassettes, two 500-sheet universal paper cassettes, and a 150-sheet multi-purpose tray are the standard options for paper handling. There are three output bins and they are made up of a 70-sheet job separator tray, an upper 100-sheet bin, and a 250-sheet lower bin. The duplexer can handle 270 sheets. The control panel is attached to the base unit and it can be adjusted for a comfortable view. Four high-speed USB 2.0 ports, a USB host port, and fast Ethernet are standard to the device.
Advantages
The print speed is up to 65ppm in A4. The Kyocera TASKalfa 6501i can generate sharp and crisp text on a wide range of paper types. There are individual paper handling options such as tri-folding and booklet finishing. Banner printing and direct printing from or scanning to a USB flash drive are supported. An IC card reader is part of the comprehensive range of security functions in the Kyocera 6501i. Mobile printing and colour scanning are supported, too. The simplified control panel has a large colour screen for easy data input and configuration.
Disadvantages
The Kyocera TASKalfa 6501i is expensive to purchase and upgrade, and it does not print in colour. Fax is optional and higher resolution images appear washed out and grainy in monochrome when the Kyocera 6501i prints them in its default 600x600dpi resolution.
