Expert review of the Lexmark E342tn printer
The Lexmark E342tn printer offers great value for money for small workgroups. It has user-friendly buttons plus front-loading consumables as well as an intuitive 2-line LCD screen, giving users clear instructions to facilitate simple printing and maintenance with speed and ease. It has a black print resolution of 1200 x 1200 x dpi, 2400 Image Quality, 600 x 600 dpi, 1200 Image Quality, and supports a range of media, including card stock, transparencies, plain paper, envelopes and paper labels.
Design
The printer’s dimensions are 382 x 396 x 376mm (height x width x depth) and it weighs 30.8lbs, with a 150-sheet output bin, a 250-sheet input tray, a single-sheet exit, a single-sheet manual feed and a 550-sheet drawer. The operator panel has a 2-line by 16-character LCD, five buttons and indicator lights set to flash when the printer is processing a job. Its operating noise level while idle is 27 dBA, and while printing, it is 52 dBA.
Advantages
The Lexmark E324n is designed with low noise in mind and reaches rapid print speeds of up to 30 pages per minutes and a first time to first page of 7.5 seconds. It has Lexmark’s award-winning MarkVision Professional software, which does a lot of the set-up and configuration for the user, and also offers a range of proactive network management tools, including automated email alerts for low paper and toner. Power Saving mode is incorporated in order to save energy by lowering consumption while the printer is experiencing extended periods of inactivity. Operating systems that it supports include Apple Mac OS X, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows 7.
Disadvantages
The Lexmark E342tn is a mono printer and does not offer duplex printing, which means that it is less flexible than some other printers. This printer may also be quite noisy while it is printing so may not be ideal to have within a quiet office space.
