An Oki C831n offers great function for the price, with an option to create pages up to A3 size in monochrome and colour laser print.
Design
The design of the Oki C831n is simple and workmanlike with rounded lines. It is off-white in colour with grey accents. The machine weighs in at a pretty hefty 82 pounds and measures 17.6 inches wide by 21.7 inches deep by 14.2 inches high, making it compact enough for table-top use but only if you plan to place it alone, due to the weight. A black and white LED display screen allows easy-to-read access to task status, while the controls are managed using a simple four-way button control panel and alphanumeric keypad. The printer has a front access paper tray and cartridge change.
Advantages
The Oki C831n colour laser printer is capable of printing up to A3 size, at resolutions of up to 1,200 x 600 dpi in monochrome. The machine goes from start to first printed page in less than ten seconds and can achieve print speeds of up to 35 pages per minute in both black and white and colour single-sided A4 or 20 pages per minute for A3 size. The Oki C831n is compliant with Energy Star energy-efficiency requirements and has a maximum monthly duty cycle of 75,000 pages – ample for smaller business print requirements.
Disadvantages
Wired connection makes the Oki C831n less useful in office environments where workers will be looking to print from mobile devices while on the go although many offices look to remove this option for employees, if this is the case for you, no wireless option removes a potential headache. The Oki C831n does not benefit from any additional integrated functions such as scanning, copying or faxing. Automatic duplexing for double-sided prints is available only as an additional option. The 350-sheet maximum input (250-sheet input tray plus 100-sheet multipurpose tray) can mean more manual maintenance is required from users.
