For those who demand a reliable and compact multifunction colour printer, the Oki MC853 offers excellent print quality, low running costs, and fast print speeds that can get various jobs done quickly. Built-in scan, fax, and copy functions eliminate the need to invest in separate devices, while the customisable touch screen display simplifies on-board operation. Some users may not like the high initial price and the limited scan resolution, which could reduce the quality of some images.

Design

The most distinctive feature of the Oki MC853 is the seven-inch colour LCD touch screen panel. From there, one could notice the bulky frame, which measures approximately 700mm tall, 563mm wide, and 600mm deep and measures around 64Kg. It comes with a 250GB hard disk drive and runs on 1.26GB RAM, with 800MHz processing speed. The flatbed scanner has a 100-sheet reverse automatic document feeder. Default paper handling is via a 300-sheet cassette, 100-sheet multi-purpose tray, a 100-sheet face-up output tray, and a 250-sheet face-down output bin. The default interfaces are USB 2.0 and Ethernet.

Advantages

The Oki MC853 prints in speeds of up to 23ppm, with the first page ready in 14 seconds. A range of security options enhance the privacy of some sensitive documents. On-board configuration is easy with a colour touch-screen panel. LED scanning provides a faster way to digitise documents and send them directly to email, a network folder, or USB. Disadvantages
