The Ricoh Aficio SPC242DN uses Ricoh 4063 toner cartridges. Ricoh 4063 toner comes in black and multicolour; the black cartridge prints 2,500 pages, the multicolour cartridge prints 2,500 pages.

Expert review of the Ricoh Aficio SPC242DN printer
A worthy upgrade from the former SPC240dn, the Ricoh Aficio SPC242dn printer has a larger 256MB memory and a faster print and speed of 20ppm. This colour laser printer can produce some of the sharpest and most vibrant colour images in about the same cost-per-page as b&w output. It has an auto duplexer for reducing paper use, and its cartridges have some of the highest page yields in the industry. It also boasts a duty cycle of 65,000 impressions per month. However, the Ricoh Aficio SPC242dn does not support wireless networking.
Design
The Ricoh Aficio SPC242dn is practically the same machine as the earlier SPC240dn model, except that it has a faster RAM and a more superior duty cycle. It supports Ethernet, PictBridge, and USB connectivity, and features an auto duplexing unit and a control panel with individual buttons for starting or stopping print jobs, resetting tasks, and accessing menus. To the right of the display are the scroll buttons and the 'escape' and 'OK' buttons. The Ricoh Aficio SPC242dn also allows flexible paper handling with its 250-sheet paper tray, which can handle a good range of print media.
Advantages
The Ricoh Aficio SPC242dn boasts an impressive duty cycle – more than double the capacity of the former model. It has versatile wired connectivity options, and can access files direct from a digital camera, thanks to the PictBridge interface. Warm up time is just 30 seconds, and first prints come out in as fast as 14 seconds.
Disadvantages
The Ricoh Aficio SPC242dn does not support wireless networking and can be space-consuming.
